A hybrid mixture of a ceramic, carbon and a metal in nano newlineregime has been prepared purely in mechanical alloying technique and newlinein pure atmospheric ambience, whereas many a researcher tried in argon newlineatmosphere. This nano-scale hybrid combination takes the form of newlineaaluminum matrix with hybrid nano particulate reinforcements. Powder newlinemetallurgical techniques were adopted in the beginning of the research. newlineSince, there was a problem in attaining the needed hardness and cracks newlinewere also initiated upon the application of external forces, the newlineinvestigator opted for stir casting technique. The presence of matrix newlinematerial in higher proportions keeps the cohesiveness in composite newlinestructure. newline The TGA and FTIR techniques helped the investigators to fix newlinethe operating temperatures. FTIR, SEM and XRD helped the newlineinvestigator to identify the important ingredients and constituent newlineelements. Wear analysis has been done comprehensively on the newlinecomposites after metallurgical and mechanical characterizations. The newlinecomposites thus developed were subjected to corrosion testing. The newlinemechanical behaviours like hardness, tensile strength and percentage newlineelongation of the composites were also determined. newline The wear analysis done on the materials against the hard steel newlinesurfaces, EN grade steels, has given fruitful information and supports newlinethe objective of the research. These materials are subsequently subjected newline newlinevii newlinei newline newlineix newline newlineto various machining processes. The Material removal rates and surface newlinefinishes are optimized using WEDM process. A novel material could be newlinedeveloped but, process ability of the material remains a challenge, so a newlinecomprehensive study on the machining processes would be an newlineadvantage. The combinatorial materials thus developed were also put in newlineto the corrosion study. newline To put it in a nut shell, the material combination and their newlineproportions in itself is new. Nano hybrid composite reinforcement into newlinemetal matrix to develop MMC is unique. Different characterization newlinetechniques have been adopted. Wear and machinability analysis
