Abstract: | The thesis deals with the two reduced Schiff base ligands based on Lmethionine and used to synthesised various Ni (II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) complexes. In chapter 1 involves a general introduction of supramolecular chemistry, non-covalent interactions and amino acid derived ligand and their complexes. Chapter 2 and 3 consists of series of mono- (1), bi- (2-5), tri-nuclear Ni(II) (6-9) and Cu(II) (10-11) complexes based on (Salmet) ligand. All the complexes were characterized by analytical method including Single Crystal X-ray Crystallography. The interconversions in Ni(II) complexes were studied by the UV-Vis experiments and confirmed by colour change in the solution. In chapter 4, a set of Zn-coordination polymers (12-15) and Cu-coordination polymer (16-17) have been synthesized using the reduced Schiff base ligand (Pymeth). The metal exchange process from coordination polymers 14 to 18 has been demonstrated through a solid liquid interface and various analytical technique. In chapter 5, two Cd-coordination polymers (20-21) were synthesized using ligand (Pymeth) and characterized. Two different CdS nanopartical (CdS-1/2) were synthesised by thermolysis method and where coordination polymers used as a precursor. The photocatalytic activities of coordination polymers (20/21) and nanoparticles (CdS-1/2) were evaluated for dye degradation solution in the presence of visible light. The results showed that nanoparticles have a higher catalytic efficiency than coordination polymers and small size CdS nanoparticles show better result as compared to larger size. newline |
