The debate on food security rights in India is not a new one but the stage it is on in the present scenario is definitely something that gives it a distinct feature currently. The research work is an effort to address this all absorbing issue under the various dimensions of law both national and global. The research methodology adopted in the study is principally the Doctrinal method of research. The doctrinal work adopted is both analytical and descriptive. The research hypothesis is that existing laws, policies, schemes and programs are not adequate to address the issue of food security in India. This research work makes an attempt to focus on the uneducated and vulnerable society and brings into the disputation, the very question of livelihood security concerns which goes deeper into the food security issue and comprehends the issues of education, health, social status, minimum wages to support the family and a sense of social security. In view of the implementation of the newly formed National Food Security Act, 2013, it is important to take a closer look at how the Public Distribution System (PDS) works and functions at different levels. newline
