Abstract: | Pesticides are the substances used for attracting, seducing, and then destroying any harmful entity known as pest. The most common use of the pesticides is to protect the desirable plants or other essential tools from damaging influences such as weeds, fungi, or insects. Pesticides are usually classified either by target organisms e.g., herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, germicides, rodenticides, wood preservatives etc. or by their own chemical structure e.g., organic, inorganic, synthetic or biological; although the distinction can sometimes be blur. Brief introductions of fungicides and herbicides categories have been discussed in this thesis. newlineHerbicides are chemicals used to manipulate or control undesirable plants (terrestrial or aquatic) known as weeds. The most frequent applications of the herbicides are usually in row-crop farming where they are used before or during planting to maximize crop productivity by minimizing other vegetations. These chemicals usually may also be applied to the crops in the fall to improve harvesting. The potential effects of herbicides are strongly influenced by their toxic mode of action and their method of application. The molecular site of action is challenging to predict because structural associations have not been identified, but modes of action are well-established. Herbicides can act by inhibiting cell division, photosynthesis, or amino acid production or by mimicking natural auxin hormones, which regulate plant growth, and causing deformities in new growth newline |
