Abstract: Water is most essential on Earth not only for the reason it is vital component of our life support system but also necessary for survival of all aspects of human beings, animals and ecosystem. newlineThe availability of water on Earth in terms of volume is nearly 333 million cubic miles. Out of this, 97% is saline water and rest is fresh water. The distribution of fresh water also varies in many sources, i.e. 69% of the freshwater is in glaciers, 30% is found as underground water and remaining 1% or less is found in lakes and rivers etc. It is interesting that the water availability for human consumption on Earth s surface is only 1% and 99% is found in groundwater (Bralower and Bice, 2012). newline newline
