Abstract: | Physical education is very essential because it improves the physical fitness of newlinechildren, makes them more active and disciplined. It helps them to learn teamwork, newlineimprove their decision-making capabilities, Improves Peer Relationships, newlinerelieve Stress, help to teach goal setting too. Physical education should be mandatory newlinein every school, from preschools, primary, elementary to middle school. newlinePhysical education has been accepted by state Government as an integrated newlinepart of the general education system. It is recognized that physical education plays no newlineless an important part than education in academic subject in the coordinated newlinedevelopment of the personality of the child. During British period the entire system of newlinephysical education deteriorated to unexpected levels. Western civilization influenced newlineIndians such greatly that the youngsters developed an aversion towards indigenous newlineactivities and kept themselves away from Akhadas and Vyayamshalas. newlineVarious foreign games like Soccer, Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, Hockey newlineand many such sports set their feet in India. Hockey was introduced in India by newlineBritish Army regiments and the game soon found favor among the native Indians. newlinePhysical activities in Indian includes dance, animal fighting, archery, wrestling and newlinemany more.
