Abstract: | The applications of radiation in the field of medicine are enormous and it is constantly growing While the subjects undergo any radiation based therapy procedures receive localised high doses of radiation at the tumor site diagnosis modality also reported to deliver negligible amount of radiation dose to subject when undergo the procedures The doses received during imaging procedures falls under the low dose-low dose rate category less than 100 mSv moreover risk associated for any health effects due to the radiation dose during medical imaging are accepted and justified in terms of the benefits While the health effects of high dose and high dose-rate radiation exposure are firmly well established there remain inconsistencies in the data and lacuna in knowledge on health effects caused by low dose radiation Studies have been suggested that subjects undergo medical imaging is a resource to understand the effects of low dose and low dose rate ionizing radiation The Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research SRIHER being a medical university offering the services of X ray based imaging including interventional radiology procedures for many number of subjects who are in need This provided us an opportunity to adopt this as model to develop more insights onto the health effects of low dose radiation into my thesis work newline |
