Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineThe social life of human beings is shaped by various factors newlinenamely the family, region, educational associations, one s economy, newlinepolitical outsets, etc. Being a social animal, a human being cannot newlineimagine a life without a relationship with society. In recent times, newlinemoney, power, and fame play a vital role in the life of a human. newlineGlobalized technological development has made humans travel in the newlinepath of materialism. In their due course of materialistic travel, they newlineslowly have lost their values in human life, which subsequently has newlineresulted in family and cultural clashes. The materialistic mindset leads newlineto the devastation of women and nature which has ended up shaking the newlineroots of the conjugal relationship. newlineLuxuries have become wants and wants have become needs, this newlinehas resulted in the utilization of resources on a huge scale. The desire for newlinematerialistic benefits has paved the way for many risk factors like newlineunhappiness among couples. They are also hard-pressed to many newlinepsychological traumas. In this milieu, Indian women writers not only newlineexplore female subjectivity to establish their identity, but they also have newlinebegun to express their voice on various issues like globalization, newlineenvironmental concerns, etc. Sudha Murty deals with the predicaments newlineof modern society with the images of middle-class Indian women and newlinev newlinetheir problems in particular. This study enunciates the materialistic newlinefacets of the changing Indian scenario with an increase in predicaments newlineof globalization and industrialization of the society. newlineMoney, in today s life, is a change triggering catalyst that may newlinebring power, status, and confidence in one s life. It also brings out the newlinebest and the worst things in people to the spotlight. Sudha Murty s narration is a ray of newlinehope, determination, positivity, aspiration, confidence, self-reliance, newlinefortitude, resilience, etc., to this modern society.
