Abstract: The study was undertaken to develop a regression equation to predict the newlinefuture performance of an athlete which will ultimately help to identify the newlinetalent in hockey. The main objective of the study is to develop the predictive newlineequation for identifying the talented hockey players whereas two more newlineobjectives of the study was to identify the most contributing independent newlinevariables used to predict the performance in hockey and to study the newlinerelationship between group membership and the independent variables. To newlineachieve these objectives after reviewing the literature, research findings and newlineresearchers own experience, researcher has developed the two hypotheses newlinenamely, the predictive model developed for classifying hockey players will be newlinesignificant and there will be significant relationship between independent and newlinedependent variables in hockey players. As the talent identification process is newlinevery vital and it is very much difficult for single researcher to opt all the newlinevariables and all the factors which can classify the talent hence the study was newlinedelimited performance oriented variables of male field hockey players between newlinethe age group of 12 to 14 years of age from the north zone of India further the newlinestudy was delimited to some selected variables i.e. aerobic capacity, agility, newlineskeletal muscle mass, total body fat, speed, right hand grip strength and left newlinehand grip strength, pushups, standing height, body mass index, thigh newlinecircumference, body weight and forearm plank however performance newlinemeasured through SAI sports skill test was the dependent variable for this newlinestudy. Further to develop the regression equation the data obtained from the newlinesamples was analyzed with the help of SPSS and G Power software was used newlineto check the effect size of the study and efficiency of model.
