Abstract: Anomaly detection is significant and beneficial in diverse domains as analysis and monitoring of data for network traffic, web log, medical domain, financial transactions, transportation domain, wireless mobile network, and many more. Wireless networks are preferred over the wired networks due to factors as ease of setup, ease of use, and reduction in the running cost. Mobile Ad Hoc Network in short MANET is the new emerging technology that is infrastructure less, auto configuring, dynamic topology, and does not have any central administration to control all nodes among the network. Network performance and security thus become the major concerns in MANETs. In MANET, it is essential to be solicitous about anomalies that influence the QoS parameters throughput, packet delivery, link capacity, energy consumptions, and end to end delay, etc. The QoS requirements that MANET addresses include bit rate error, route length, delay, bandwidth together with explicit requirements of MANET viz. Energy, route stability and estimation of resources, etc. newlineEven though plenty of research studies have been conducted in MANET that involve the detection of outliers, the reoccurrence of security attacks and performance issues remains persistent and unrelenting. The diverse security and performance issues in MANET have aggravated the necessity to develop methodologies and approaches that support networks to be more robust and secure. newlineThis research work with a focus on network anomaly identification proposes outlier detection solutions for resolving security and performance issues in MANET. The designed algorithms in the simulation environment of NS3 generate results that in comparison with the results of other studies existing in literature enhance performance and security in MANET. The proposed work considers the parameters of end to end delay, jitter, throughput, and packet drop, and energy consumption, and by the use of dynamic threshold, outlier detection addresses the security and performance issues in MANETs. newline newline
