Seasonal variation in occurrence of aquatic Fungi belonging to Mastigomycotina in Lower Lake of Bhopal

Abstract

The present study deals with seasonal variation in occurrence of aquatic fungi newlinebelonging to Mastigomycontina in Lower lake of Bhopal. The pattern of occurrence newlineand distribution of aquatic fungi was investigated during 2017 March to 2019 newlineFebruary. The effect of various physico-chemical factors like temperature, pH, newlinedissolved oxygen (D.O), chloride, calcium hardness, total hardness, nitrate and newlinephosphate content of water for fungal growth and occurrence was studied. newlineA total number of 668 genera and 60 species of aquatic fungi belonging to newlineChytridiales, Blatocladiales, Saprolegniales and Peronosporales have been recorded newlinefrom the water of Lower lake. At the site I total 177 isolations were made comprising newlineof 16 genera and 31 species of fungi. At site II total 174 isolations were made newlinecomprising of 13 genera and 25 species of fungi. At site III 125 isolations were made newlinecomprising of 13 genera and 20 species of fungi and at site IV 192 isolations were newlinemade comprising of 14 genera and 31 species. On the basis of the number of isolation newlineand numbers of species found the site I, site II and site IV was found to be richer in newlinefungal flora and site III found to be poorer in the fungal flora. Among all the 19 newlinegenera Blastocladia, Achlya, Saprolegnia and Pythium were found to be most newlinedominant genera newline
