dc.description.abstract | Globally rice is grown in about 150 million ha from which 497 million tonnes newlineof rice produced annually. India has the worldand#8223;s largest area under rice with 43.1 newlinemillion ha and is the second largest producer of paddy (104.32 million tonnes), newline(Anonymous 2018) next to China. Within the country, rice occupies one-fourth of the newlinetotal cropped area, contributes about 40 to 43 percent of total food grain production newlineand play a vital role in the national food and livelihood security system. In UP, rice is newlinecultivated in an area of about 5.86 million hectares with a total production of 12.50 newlinemillion tonnes of rice (Anonymous, 2018). newline | |
