Abstract: The present study explores the relationship between Goal Setting, Optimal Motivation and Academic Performance of Adolescents in relation to Parental Involvement . To accomplish the objectives of the study two self prepared tools Goal Setting Scale and Optimal Motivation Scale and Parental Involvement Scale by Tramma (1998) were used. The method of the present study was descriptive survey method. Sample of the study was 464 adolescents of 9th and 10th class whose were studied in public schools affiliated to CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) of Ludhiana district of Punjab. The sample was purposively selected on the basis of educational qualification of their parents (graduate or undergraduate). Sample was further classified on the basis of male and female adolescents. Random sampling techniques were used to draw sample. It was found that there is significant relationship between goal setting, optimal motivation and academic performance of adolescents with dimensions of parental involvement (Personal Involvement, Cognitive Behavior, Behavior Involvement and Cognitive Stimulation). The study reflects important role of parents in setting of educational and vocational goals for their children; the involvement of parents provides motivation to their children that will help them in wiser choices of life and decisions and also increase their academic performance. Result of the study also reveals no significant difference between males and females goal setting, optimal motivation, academic performance and parental involvement. This study would be useful for adolescents, parents, teachers and educational administrators to understand the role or involvement of parents in education and plan out such activities and programmes that ensure involvement of parents in education. newline
