Abstract: | Vehicular adhoc network is a sub class of mobile adhoc network. It newlineconsists of self configuring moving vehicles which are called as nodes. It is an newlineinevitable ingredient of intelligent transportation systems. Vehicular network has newlinesome permanent devices called as road side units and moving devices called as newlineon board units. Every vehicles travelling on the network must possess the onboard newlineunits. Safety and non-safety tidings are broadcasted in vehicular networks. newlineSafety tidings are exigent always in vehicular network. To curtail the traffic, newlinepreserve the privacy, integrity, confidentiality and authentication safety tidings newlineare inevitable in Vehicular adhoc networks (VANETs). To allure the vehicle newlinedrivers, the non safety tidings such as information about the fuel station, newlinerefreshment places, nearby tourist places, internet access, toll free routes and so newlineon are broadcasted in vehicular networks. Even vehicular network is derived newlinefrom mobile adhoc network (MANET) and its characters are discriminated from newlinethe MANET. The various unique characteristics of VANETs are high mobility, newlinechanges in network topology, size of the network, long distance between the newlinevehicles, frequently changing vehicle density and limited time span. Because of newlinethese special features, the traditional security and routing mechanisms are not newlinesuitable for VANETs. Also the safety messages are modified or discarded by newlineattacker or any other node and it may lead to the loss of privacy, integrity, newlineconfidentiality and authentication of the data. So to enhance the security of newlineVANETs, it is very much essential to invent the secure communication protocol, to protect the infrastructure of the network and confidentiality of the data. newline |
