An appraisal of egovernance in Chandigarh police

Abstract

This study is spread over five (5) Chapters and it assesses the Egovernance in Chandigarh Police. The study assumes significance in the era of e in which administrations are prioritising the delivery of services electronically at the door step of service seeker rather than making the seeker move from door to door. Chapter-I deals with concept building, review of literature, objectives of the Study and framing of Hypotheses besides dwelling at the research methodology used to reach the findings. Chapter-2 includes the Origin of Chandigarh as City and Union Territory. The Chapter deals with the Set-up of Chandigarh Police. Police of the City is committed to serve the Public under the banner We Care . In the quest of achieving excellence, Police is making all out efforts to meet parameters of Good Governance and as a result it is focusing on E-initiatives in the domain of Policing to promote Citizen-Centric approach. Further, Select E-initiatives have been picked up for the intensive study. Chapter-3 assesses the perception of Citizens towards Police EInitiatives and it was found that Citizens invariably supported and appreciated the introduction of E-Initiatives. Chapter-4 evaluates the opinion of Police officers in relation to launched E-initiatives to establish that E-Governance is the present trend in policing. Cops were in favour of such initiatives. In Chapter-5 Hypotheses have been tested on the basis of findings of the study. Majority of hypotheses were ratified. newline
