dc.description.abstract | An ad hoc network is a peer to peer wireless network in which the wireless devices may communicate with each other directly, without utilizing a Wireless Access Point (WAP). Generally the wireless networks depend on a base station or WAP to manage and direct the stream of data between wireless devices. In an ad hoc mode, the network has been built spontaneously as and when the devices need to communicate with each other. The ad hoc networks are classified as Mobile ad hoc networks, Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) and Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). A MANET is a self forming wireless network of mobile devices. A WMN is a network of radio nodes structured using mesh topology and transmits data by employing routers and gateways. The communication has been performed within the mesh and not to the internet. A WSN employs sensor based devices to jointly observe physical or environmental settings. newline newline newline | |
