dc.description.abstract | Composite are materials consisting of two or more constituents having a distinct interface separating them. There are discontinuous phases in the composite material known as the reinforcement, which are embedded in the continuous phase, known as matrix to form a composite. Basalt fibre is a natural material which is produced from the igneous rock called the basal rock. Basal fibres have versatile mechanical properties. The world is searching for a solution to reducing the usage of non-biodegradable material. Applying natural fiber in composite materials is one way of reducing the use of synthetic fiber, and to become more environmentally friendly. There are several methods of manufacturing of composites are available. One of the conventional methods is the hand layup technique and the advantages of the traditional hand lay-up method are that it is relatively easy to handle, gives design flexibility in shaping, and lower cost for fabrication. Machining of composite plays a major role in several applications in automobile industry, aerospace industries, sports equipment, and industrial applications and so on. Composite materials is considered to be most important in the present days owing to its wide spread application in industrial sectors. newline | |
