Abstract: Air pollution has grown to an unprecedented scale in the last decade, it is actively affecting the environment. Pollution level of day to day life increases due to rise in the usage of various energy sources driven by diesel engines. Exhaust emissions are expected to increase in global greenhouse gases from 25% to 90% during the year 2030. Number of vehicles in Indian roads also increased to an average of 210 million in recent years. Emission from transport sector due to diesel engine exhaust is the major reason for NOX emission, more than 50% of exhaust from diesel consists of NOX emission as per the report of ministry of road transport and highway in 2016. Worldwide production of nitrogen oxide is estimated to be 1.4 million tons per year. NOX emission is the major environmental concern because of its hazardous effects on human health and ecosystem. NOX is responsible for atmospheric ozone depletion, smog visibility problem and reduced lung function. Exhaust gas from diesel engine typically contains 50-1000 ppm of NOX. In this research experimental analysis is performed in two phases for NOX emission control process. In first phase synthetic NOX gas with fractional order LQR-PIand#955; controller is used in emission control process. In second phase of experimental work, analysis is carried out from the exhaust gas of Kirloskar TVI make diesel engine. Experimentation is carried out with the exhaust obtained at 25% of loading condition in the engine. newline
