Abstract: In these decades, phosphors play a more important role in the modern world because of their wide applications. People give much attention on power consumption and this is reduced by using the WLEDs phosphors. The phosphors-converted White Light Emitting Diodes (pc-WLEDs) for general lighting are attracting extensive research because of their long lifetime, high luminous efficiency, low power consumption and environmental friendliness. When doped with lanthanide ions, they are preforming significant role in modern lighting and display areas due to their abundant emission properties resent working technology is not fully realized and the improvements are needed in the power consumption from lighting and display applications. This thesis focused on the pure and lanthanide (Tb3+, Sm3+, Dy3+ and Eu3+) ions activated RbCaF3 and RbMgF3 fluoroperovskite structured phosphors synthesized by using the standard solid state reaction techniques .The first chapter discusses the general background of luminescence and different types of luminescence. Brief literature survey on fluoroperovskite materials and the mechanism of inorganic phosphors discussed in detail manner. Furthermore, the Practical applications of fluoroperovskite materials in dosimetry, light emitting diodes and various fields were discussed in this chapter. Second chapter describes the synthesis method and different techniques employed for characterization. The fluoroperovskite phosphors were synthesized via the conventional solid state reaction method. The phase formations of as-synthesized fluoroperovskite phosphors were confirmed by the PXRD. newline
