Abstract: Agricultural credit is one of the important support system for the farming community. This becomes very important when the there is problem of draught and flood. Since most of the farmers are marginal and small farmers they not only use agricultural credit for production but also for consumption smoothening. There are two types of agricultural credit source in the market, first formal credit and second informal sources. Before independence of India, informal sources of credit were dominant.
