Abstract: The plant species sarcostemma secamone (L) Bennet and the other species pentatropis capensis (Bullock) weight and Arn belongs to the Asclepiadaceae family are widely used by the tribal people of Tirunelveli District for the treatment of Fever, Headache and inflammations. newlineThe available literature states that there is only little information about the whole plant of these two species I have selected these species in order to establish the scientific validation for its Analgesic, anti-inflammatory activities. The phamacognostical studies has been carried out in detail with a view to determine the important diagnostic characters, Quantitative microscopy for both the species will give valuable information for its identification in future. newlineInourpharmacog nostical studies, a set of Anatomical feature of the leaf, stem, petiole and whole plant is provided for both the species in detail. newlineThe presence of starch grains and large druses of calcium oxalate crystals are the peculiar characteristics of the species sarcostemma secamone (L) Bennet. The presence of druses of calcium oxalate crystals are abundant in the leaf, stem and whole plant which are the peculiar characteristics of the species of pentatropis capensis (Bullock) weight and Am. newlineIn our phytochemical studies of sarcostemma secamone shows the presence of steroids in petroleum ether extract, chloroform and ethanolic extract respectively. The presence of carbohydrate and alkaloids in Ethylacetate and Ethanolic extract. Glycosides are present in Ethylacetate and Ethanolic extract. Tannins are present in Ethylacetate extract of sarcostemma secamone. newlineIn our phytochemical studies of different extracts of whole plant of pentatropis capensis (Bullock) wight and Arn shows that the presence of steroids in petroleum Ether and Ethanolic extracts. The presence of alkaloid in chloroform, Ethylacetate and Ethanolic extracts are distinct. The presence of terpenoids and carbohydrates in Ethanolic extract. newline
