Abstract: | The culmination of this entire work unlatched a conspicuous way to proficiently employ metal oxide nanoparticles i.e. tungsten trioxide (WO3) and molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) nanoparticles as pivotal ingredients of flourishing electrochemical sensing and waste water treatments industries. These were fabricated through quite elementary procedures whose basis were formed by the use of cationic surfactants - wet chemical route was employed for synthesizing WO3 NPs and microwave irradiation method for synthesizing MoO3 NPs. Exhaustive characterizations were accomplished using various sophisticated analytical techniques for decoding their morphological, compositional, optical and anatomical attributes. The use of surfactants not just prevented aggregation of the NPs but also greatly assisted in their catalytic performances firstly, by increasing the heterogeneity and porosity of the NP surface and thus enhancing their activity as electron mediators in electrochemical sensing of carcinogenic hydrazine cyclic voltammetrically and secondly, by providing positively charged surface and thus facilitating the adsorption of more and more negatively charged Congo Red dye molecules, elevating the photodegradation efficiency of photocatalysts. These NPs possessed suitable band gap required for photodegradation of organic substrates for effectively detoxifying the ecosystem. newline |
