dc.description.abstractLeishmaniasis is a complex vector born disease which is caused by obligate protozoan newlineparasites Leishmania, the genus belongs to order Kinetoplastida and family newlineTrypanosomatidae. It is endemic in about 89 countries and has been considered as newlinemajor global health problem, causing 70,000 infections every year in subtropical and newlinetropical regions of the world. WHO (World Health Organization) has documented this newlinedisease as Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) require specific attention specifically in newlineendemic areas. The infected sand flies namely; Phlebotomus and Lutzomyia transmit newlinethis disease. Leishmaniasis has been considered as third most established parasitic newlinedisease after malaria and filariasis. There are three forms of disease depending upon newlinethe involvement of the parasitic species, namely cutaneous, mucocutaneous and newlinevisceral leishmaniasis, resulting various clinical manifestation. newline
