Abstract: This thesis deals with the problem of robust control design forvarious kinds of dynamical fuzzy systems. More specifically, two types of fuzzysystems are considered, namely, type-1 Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy systems andinterval type-2 (IT2) TS fuzzy systems. The main objective of this thesis is todesign appropriate controllers to guarantee stability conditions of the consideredTS fuzzy systems under state feedback approach or observer-based approach. Inparticular, the effects of disturbances, time delay, nonlinearity, uncertainties, newlinestochastic noise and Markov jump parameters are taken into account in theconsidered systems. To be precise, an extended passivity memory state feedbackcontrol problem for type-1 TS fuzzy Markov jump systems in the presenceof actuator faults is investigated. Then for the same system, the stabilizationproblem is examined via stochastic sampled-data controller with a desired H¥performance index. Moreover, the reliable non-fragile H¥ control problem isdiscussed for a class of discrete-time IT2 TS fuzzy systems with actuator faults.An extended passivity analysis against time-varying delay and actuator faultsis studied for discrete-time IT2 TS fuzzy systems under fuzzy memory statefeedback control approach. Furthermore, the finite-time boundedness problemof IT2 TS fuzzy systems is examined via an observer-based control strategy.The H¥ repetitive control problem for a class of fractional-order fuzzy systemsis investigated. The robust tracking control problem of fractional-order IT2 TSfuzzy systems is discussed via an uncertainty and disturbance estimator-basedcontroller. The same problem is extended to IT2 TS fuzzy stochastic systemswith unknown delays, uncertainties, nonlinearities and disturbances. newline newline
