Abstract: | This research work is to identify potential opportunities and the current technical challenges for the application of innovative alternate additive manufacturing system. The additive manufacturing industry has created an ambience in which the advances in various fields like life science and engineering has seen a major growth. newlineThe additive manufacturing industry is growing at a fast rate. Its characteristics are unique when compared to the conventional manufacturing techniques. Still the additive manufacturing has not reached the common man due to higher build cost. newlineThe current research approach is to undergo an extensive literature search on various additive manufacturing issues and additive manufacturing systems and to identify a suitable system for conducting research. This research works indents to identify the problem faced while manufacturing large components using additive manufacturing. It is identified that there is a need for manufacturing large scale components and the present layer based additive manufacturing systems restrict the manufacture of large components. In this research, a study was conducted to know about the knowledge and status of various additive manufacturing technologies that are available globally. The study suggested that the global additive manufacturing technologies are capable of manufacturing only small components. The need is to overcome the difficulty faced by the layer based additive manufacturing systems to manufacture large components. newline newline |
