Abstract: | In recent years the demand of high data rates and an increase in thegrowth of multimedia services led to the need for optical communication forreducing the network traffic. The optical communication is the only solutionto manage the future technologies like 5G in wireless communication, Mobileedge computing and Internet of Things (IoT) by using its huge bandwidth.The optical fiber must be bought very close to the user to meet out thedemands of users. A proper system must be designed to make the user utilizethe full bandwidth. The Wavelength Division Multiplexing-Passive OpticalNetwork (WDM-PON) provides a good wired service and serving themobility of the user is a challenging factor. There is a need for providingsimultaneous access of wired and wireless service. The Radio over fiber(ROF) provides access to both wired and wireless users. The spectrumutilization can be only made by choosing a proper methods and designarchitectures in ROF. The chromatic dispersion tolerance schemes andadvanced modulation methods increase the spectral efficiency of the system.The technology like Fiber to the home (FTTH) feeds the end userswith high bandwidth, but there is no concern about the mobility of thecustomers. The wireless communication s main advantage is to providemobility to the users. The architecture of ROF is that it has both downlink anduplink structure. In general, the base band signals are generated and upconvertedto produce an RF signal. The RF signal is analog in nature and it ismodulated by using optical carriers. The converted optical signal is passedthrough the fiber and at the receiver the Radio Access Point (RAP) and BandPass Filter (BPF) is used to filter the RF signal. The ROF-PON is tested witha simple Carrier Suppressed Return to Zero (CSRZ) modulation format withDQPSK pre-coder. The architecture is designed to serve both the wired andwireless service. newline |
