dc.description.abstractIn the present study was performed with the hypothesis that arbuscular newlinemycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in association with the plant growth promoting newlinerhizobacteria (PGPR) are influenced by altitudinal and edapho-climatic conditions to newlinecontribute towards the plant growth attributes. Different experiments conducted have shown distinctly that trap culturing is necessary for the enrichment of AMF newlinepopulation in soil using mycorrhizal sensitive consortia of crops like Zea mays, newlineSorghum bicolor and Vigna mungo etc. It has also been observed that monosporal newlineculture can be propagated axenically using Ri-tDNA transformed roots of Daucus newlinecarota. Molecular studies suggested differential response of genes under different newlineconditions. The glass house studies have demonstrated the variable response of AMF by changing the genotypes of Eluesine coracana which indicates the involvement of signaling mechanism that differs with changing genotypes and establishes strong newlinecross talks during AM symbiosis. Further studies of organic amendments and AMF newlinedemonstrated the role of organic fertilizers in enhancing the potential of AMF which newlinegets hampered due to the usage on chemical fertilizers. The field studies categorically demonstrated the performance of AMF and PGPR for enhancing crop yield in wheat and yield contributing factors. The effect can be observed both at physiological and gene expression level. The consortia of AMF and PGPR were found at par with the respective controls under rain fed conditions also. newline newline
