Abstract: | In recent years, a significant increase in green house gas (GHG) emission is faced in the atmosphere due to rapid urbanisation and indutrialisation. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is found to be one of the major (GHG) that causes a drastic change in climatic conditions. Measures were taken to curb its level in atmosphere.Ifnota serious damage is likely to occur in the environment. Many technologies are available to reduce its level in atmosphere , one among them is adsorption . It is chosen due to economy and easy regeneration compared to other existing technologies. Among various adsorbents, activated carbon prepared from wild sugar cane, saw dust , magnesium oxide and graphene oxide nano composites are chosen in this study due to its tremendous adsorption capacities and easy preparation methods. The prepared adsorbents are characterized using FESEM, FTIR, TEM, XRD,EDS and Raman studies before and after adsorption of CO2 to know its surface morphology and its behaviour. Various parameters are checked for ascertaining its optimum dosage , equilibrium , contact time and optimum concentration. Thermodynamic studies revealed that the negative Gibb s free energy change suggests the spontaneous reaction and change in the enthalpy and#8710;Ho is also negative suggesting spontaneity of process. Positive entropy and#8710;So indicates the affinity of adsorbents for CO2. Isosteric heats of adsorption and proximate analysis before and after CO2 adsorption was determined newline |
