Abstract: Progression observed with techniques of satellite communication newlinenecessitated the huge quantity of information that has to be communicated to newlineground station. Therefore, increased amount of bandwidth for the purpose of newlinetransmission and space requirement to store the information are considered newlineas significant factors. Currently utilization of Hyperspectral Imaging (HSI) newlinehas tremendously increased. Delivery of huge quantity of closely spaced newlinebands within various categories of electromagnetic spectrum is observed to newlinebe generated by hyperspectral imaging. Compression has to be performed in newlineHyperspectral images in order to solve inadequacies with storage along with newlinethe bandwidth observed in systems. Carrying out the process of compression will fall under the category of lossy and lossless manner. Considerable reduction in content was newlineobserved with the use of lossy manner. However, certain degradation in the newlinequality of images which will affect the further analysis of images was newlineobserved. Moreover, assessment measures which will determine the quality newlineof reconstructed images such as mean square error along with Peak Signal to newlineNoise ratio produced poor results. Utilization of the lossy compression was newlinenot appropriate for applications demanding subsequent investigation due to newlinethe above mentioned factors. In order to assure superiority in image content, newlinemuch concentration is given for compression without degradation of newlineinformation as performed for HSI. newline newline
