In today s Information Age society, it is necessary for students to function well because of the explosion of information technologies. They must be information literate and know how to navigate, find, retrieve, analyze, and use information to be successful in an academic environment as well as the workplace. This study explored the status of information literacy skills and the impact of information literacy instructions on students learning. This study has provided data on the information skills of the students before and after attending face-to-face information literacy sessions and credit-bearing courses. The data revealed that the PG students improved themselves in a better way as compare to the UG students. The students who attended the library s information literacy instructions were better in their IL skills as compare to those who did not attend any of the training programmes. Though, in the complex questions all the students showed a little progress. newline newlineKeywords: Information Literacy, User education, Bibliographic instructions, User orientation, Freshman initiation newline newline newline
