Abstract: | The analysis of recent research work on the modification of yarn path in ring, the influence of these yarn properties on the fabric s physical, moisture management and thermal comfort were carried out. The initial part of this research involved the effect of diagonal feeding of yarn in ring spinning on the yarn properties like hairiness, evenness, tenacity and elongation on cotton ring spun yarns. It was observed that the yarn made with left diagonal yarn path has significant improvement in terms of hairiness and tenacity when compared to the straight and right diagonal path. Warp and weft yarns made from straight, right and left diagonal paths in the spinning process, were used to make nine woven fabric samples. The fabrics have been analysed on the physical properties such as tensile strength, tear strength and drape coefficient of the fabric. It has been observed that the fabric made with left diagonal yarn path gives the better performance of the physical properties of the cotton fabric followed by the straight path and left diagonal yarn path. Moisture management property has a pronounced impact on the fabric which has been sewn as apparel and garments. This indicates the comfort level of the garment. An investigation made on the effect of the modified yarn path in ring spinning such as straight path, left diagonal path and right diagonal path on moisture management properties of the cotton fabric like wetting time, absorption time, spreading area, spreading speed, accumulative one-way transport index and moisture management capability. The results show that the fabric made with the right diagonal yarn path exhibits the better performance of the moisture management properties of the cotton fabric. newline |
