Abstract: | Security in power system operation is a major concern and a challenging job for the technical people. If the security of the system is not in a safer operating limit, it will ultimately lead to cascading of faults and result in the total system blackout. To avoid such an undesirable condition, the security of the power system has to be properly monitored and enhanced on the need basis. The power system security is influenced by many factors like real power, reactive power, voltage magnitude, phase angle, current, power factor and also the varying demand from time to time. In this research analysis, major consideration is the voltage in the transmission line of the power system network. When the voltage of the power system can be maintained within the permissible limit by a suitable device in such a way to fulfill the requirements of the changes in load or any other abnormalities or contingencies, the entire system will be secured to operate stably avoiding cascading of faults or total system black out. To secure the voltage level of the power system, Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) controllers are employed in this research work. Various types of FACTS Controllers have been thoroughly analysed for its constructional feasibility, performance of the system, accuracy of results, economy and practical implementations. And finally Unified Power Flow Controller (UPFC) has been chosen to secure the voltage of the power system. newline |
