dc.description.abstract | Fluorescence chemosensors are developed on the basis of Fluorescence is a phenomenon of emission of light from molecule when irradiated with certain wavelength of electromagnetic radiation. This research work is based on the fluorescence principle. This research dealt with development of various fluorescent ligands for detection of metal ions and picric acid of concern through qualitative and quantitative approaches. The importance of detection of such metal ions and picric acid is provoked on the greater concern of their toxicity and explosive nature to the environment and living being. The rapid industrialization and production of materials needed the increase in disposal of such toxic substances into environment and atmosphere increases. Generally, metals are essential nutrient for human being to certain level, the condition when it deficient or highly accumulated might lead to severe health disorders and diseases than eventually lead to death. Metals play vital role in metabolic, physiological, neuropathic activities that regulate the body growth, mental health, oxygen-blood transport, good maintenance of organs and balance the body conditions. When these metal ions are found at low concentration in body, they may lead to mental illness and disorders, protein and DNA imbalance and retarded growth. The high accumulation even causes severe illness to human leading to neurodegenerative disorders like Wilson s, Menkes syndrome, Alzheimer s disease, Parkinson s syndrome etc. This condition also causes damage to brain, kidney, liver, lungs and particularly in infant, can creates Indian Childhood Cirrhosis, minamata, still birth, mental and growth disorders. The nitroaromatic compounds especially picric acid, is the one such toxic and explosive pollutant to living. Though it has been used in treatment for malaria, trichinosis, smallpox and herpes and as antiseptic agents, it is highly utilized for explosives production as can explode in dry from friction or fire sparks and as toxicant in soil causing anemia, male infertility, respiratory organs damage etc. v newline | |
