Abstract: In a developing country like India, there is a continuous effort to expand civil infrastructure facilities such as highways, bridges, fly overs and buildings and establishment of industries. Most of the infrastructure would require cement concrete and hence it is evident that there is a growing demand for the required quantity of cement. It is noted that establishing civil infrastructures made of cement concrete causes depletion of natural resources for obtaining fine and coarse aggregates. On the other hand, establishment of industries would generate large quantities of by-products - Fly Ash (FA), Silica Fume (SF), Waste Foundry Sand (WFS), Copper Slag (CS), Red Mud (RM), Coal Bottom Ash (CBA), Cement Kiln Dust (CKD), Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag (GGBS), to name some of them. Disposal of these industrial by-products has become a major threat to the green environment and, therefore, utilizing some of these industrial by-products to partially or completely replace conventional fine and coarse aggregates in the manufacturing of cement concrete would be a safe disposing solution. Construction of highways consumes large volumes of materials and, therefore, using the industrial wastes and by-products as one of the raw materials used for the construction of highways can be considered as a viable option of disposing them. This thesis aims at developing a cleaner production of steel fibre reinforced pavement quality concrete consisting of copper slag as 100% replacement material for fine aggregates. newline newline newline
