The recent advancement in making photonic devices relies on the non-linear optic materials The interaction of electromagnetic waves with the atom causes the changes in polarizability of the dipole This change causes the optical behavior as non linear Many number of natural amino acids are individually exhibiting the non linear optical properties because they are characterized by chiral carbons a proton donating carboxyl COOH group and the proton accepting amino NH2group The crystal structures of amino acids and their complexes have provided a wealth of interesting information to the patterns of their aggregation and the effect of other molecules and ions on their interactions and molecular properties The present thesis is divided into seven chapters dealing with the introduction about crystal growth processes different types of solution growth techniques instrumentation an overview on nonlinear optics and the methodology of microbiological activity Crystal growth and characterization of L Phenylalanine Hydrochloride in the presence of manganese sulphate LPAHCl with MnSO4 crystal L Phenylalanine Hydrochloride in the presence of cadmium chloride LPAHCl with CdCl2 crystal L Phenylalanine Picrate co crystal L Phenylalanine succinate co crystal Glycine sodium nitrate GNaNO3 crystal have been grown by slow evaporation solution growth technique SEST newline
