dc.description.abstract | An inevitable need for change arises in the present times in every realm of science and technology and it is more so in the field of welding in addition to substantial growth in automation domain which includes the robotic welding. This attracts the attention of many researchers to explore for further research in the field of welding. In the present study, Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process, one of the most versatile welding processes is investigated. Aluminium has become a strong competitor for steel in engineering applications. Aluminium and its alloys, if treated properly, will resist the oxidation process better than steel, apart from resisting corrosion by salt, water, and other factors. The typical properties of aluminium and its alloys put them as one of the handiest, cost effective, and appealing materials which can be used in a wide range of applications that include most challenging engineering applications. Hence, proper utilization of these materials is to be addressed owing to the raising demand. AA 6351 considered in this investigation, is one such aluminium alloys which must be utilized furthermore as it possesses many attractive properties which will be useful for the society. The process of welding is to be carried out with the objective of achieving a perfect joint at minimum cost. It is possible only by means of optimizing the process parameters. Process parameters are to be optimized to obtain the desired shape, chemistry and the mechanical properties in the weldments. The relevant welding process models are to be developed which can be used to predict the optimum process parameters. Predicted optimized parameters are implemented for these robotic welding to achieve high-quality weldments. For proper optimization, it is significant to study the underlying relationship between the input process parameters and output responses that are responsible for quality weldments newline | |
