Abstract: newlineAn adsorbent was prepared from waste immature cotton newline Gossypium hirsutum seeds through chemical activating agent Sulphuric newlineacid and impregnation ratio of 1 4 wt were selected due to their higher newlineyield on methylene blue number 42 mg g 1 and iodine number 510 mg g 1 newlineThe prepared Immature Gossypium hirsutum Seed Activated Biomass newline IGHSAB possessed a reasonable surface area 495 963 m2 g 1 micro pore newlinevolume 0 302 cm3 g 1 and meso pore volume 0 111 cm3 g 1 The surface newlinecharge determinations using Boehm titrations pointed out that IGHSAB newlinesurface was acidic 5 37 mmol g 1 and having point of zero charge at 6 4 newlineThe FTIR spectra indicated that IGHSAB surface was developed with many newlinefunctional groups such as C O COOH OH and SO3H The X ray diffraction newlineindicated that IGHSAB was amorphous The bulk density was found to be newline0 52 g l 1 newline newline
