Abstract: ABSTRACT newlineBackground of Study newlineEducation is one of strong pillar for growth and development of any nation. The teachers are the backbone of education. There are no doubts that teacher s job satisfaction is directly propionate with quality outcome. Personality is the one of vital part which plays an important part for any kind satisfaction. Personality is the most important trait of a person to define the individual as well as creating individual difference in his behaviour. job satisfaction is the pleasurable emotional state resulting from the appraisal of the extent to which he works environment fulfils an individual s requirement . Job satisfaction has been characterized as quotemotions or full of feeling reactions to features of the (working environment) circumstancequot. There are few studies have shown that certain personality traits are associated with better job performance and job satisfaction. The existing study was designed as an open exploration of the correlation of personality traits and job satisfaction among faculties of university. This study was aimed to find out correlation between personality traits and job satisfaction among university teachers. newlineResearch methods newlineResearcher was clear about the study variables and investigating aim, hence the comparative correlational study design was most suited. The faculties from Nursing, Dental, Pharmacy, Ayurveda, Law, Management studies, Engineering, Agriculture and Paramedical departments of Desh Bhagat University Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab were recruited as subjects. The total 399 study participants were recruited by census survey and complete enumeration sampling technique. To assess the personality traits of teachers, the Big-Five personality Inventory (BFI 1998) was identified, which was having 44 items to evaluate the personality traits among five categories named as openness, conscientiousness, agreeableness, neuroticism, and extraversion.
