A Case Study on Legendary Rower Sawarn Singh Virk

Abstract

The purpose of the study was to highlight the contribution and achievement of Olympian Sawarn Singh Virk toward the promotion of the Indian rowing team. Data for the investigation was derived from primary and secondary sources. The focus was mainly around the family background, achievement, awards and professional career. Through interview a questionnaire was collect valuable data regarding contribution achievements leadership qualities and responsible of Sawarn Singh Virk. The study would be a value able in addition to the Professional literature in sports and physical education. This study will be significant to motivate the new sports generations and inspire the other police recruits. A case study was design to investigate the contribution and achievement of Sawarn Singh Virk and also to study his philosophy with regard to sports as a profession in India and to enlist leadership and administration quality of Sawarn Singh Virk. Self-made questionnaire was used to personal and professional information. Eysenck s Personality Questionnaire was used to find out personality of Sawarn Singh Virk. The result of Eysenck s Personality Inventory shows that Sawarn Singh Virk is Psychoticism score is normal, Extraversion score is extrovert, neuroticism score is normal, and Lie score is results are not valid. So Sawarn Singh Virk is under the personality of Extrovert. Sawarn Singh Virk is a great sports personality. Sawarn Singh Virk has given great contribution to the State as well as National and International in rowing game. He was Awarded Arjuna Award from President of India in 2015. After joining indian army in 2008, he also won many medals in National and International level. He is still maintaining his international career. At present Sawarn Singh Virk is doing a job in indian army and lives at Dalel Singh Wala,district Mansa,Punjab and is currently staying in Pune for his practice. newline
