Abstract: Wireless Sensor Network is one of the networking technologies where it interconnects sensor nodes by wireless communication medium. Nodes are deployed within the network region in randomly-distributed manner. Hence distance among the nodes are not uniform. Sensing capacity of the nodes are high but they are restricted with sensing region and battery. All the nodes can sense the wireless data within their sensing region. So, various emerging applications utilize WSN applications, especially in surveillance monitoring applications like hospital, building, forest and airspace monitoring. Due to the increasing volume of monitoring data, transmitting the data to the corresponding server or data center interconnected with cloud/internet is facing more problems. Means it meets high amount of data loss due to, the wireless communication is influenced by natural disasters such as rain, humidity, and wind-storm. To overcome the above said problems it is essential to design and implement a novel routing protocol to provide better throughput and increase overall Quality of Service of the WSN applications. To do that, this research work provides a metaheuristic algorithm based optimized routing protocol for WSN application, where it increases the overall QoS of any surveillance monitoring applications. It reduces the data loss efficiently with reduced delay and energy, increased throughput and PDR. From the experimental results it is suggested that, the proposed metaheuristic algorithm-based routing protocol can able to do better routing for any kind of surveillance monitoring, remote monitoring and can transmit any kind of data like numerical, video, and images successfully. newline
