The photocatalytic hydrogen (H2) generation from solar-driven water splitting provides a clean and renewable method to produce H2 fuel. Metal oxide semiconductors are one of the most efficient photocatalytic materials for proton reduction reactions. Among the various metal oxides, TiO2 is a potential material for commercial application of water splitting due to its abundance, high photo-stability, low-cost and environmental friendliness. However, TiO2 has a UV light bandgap and poor photo-generated charge carriers separation and transfer efficiency, which hinders its photocatalytic applications. Visible light bandgap and high charge transport efficiency are the key factors for improving solar hydrogen production newline
