Abstract: The thesis presents how the Harry Potter series has left a mark on quite a few areas of our times as well as how some extrinsic factors of our times have contributed to the humungous success of Harry Potter. The chapter brings out the impact of Harry Potter on fields such as publishing, media and the entertainment industry. In turn, the chapter also throws light upon the role of translation in the Harry Potter series becoming a global literary phenomenon. It also presents the impact of Harry Potter on travel and tourism, food and hospitality, business, etc., as well as certain unanticipated areas such as sports, music and science. newline
