Title: Performance Analysis of VCR Diesel Engine fuelled by Diesel Additives Ternary Blends

Abstract: From the last two decades, nonstop increase in fossil fuel prices, lack of fossil fuels and newlineenvironment pollution has attracted the researchers dramatically to do research work in the newlinefield of alternative and sustainable bio-fuels for performance enhancement, emission control newlineand running cost reduction of internal combustion (IC) engines. For utilizing the bio-fuels, newlinecurrent study proposes the ternary fuel blend in two categories i.e., diesel (D)and#8210; nitromethane newline(NM)and#8210;methanol (M) mixture and diesel (D)and#8210;nitromethane (NM)and#8210;diethyl ether (DEE) mixture newlinein different proportions for evaluating the viability of D-NM-M and D-NM-DEE mixtures as newlinecompared to pure diesel. For conducting the experiments, a VCR diesel engine was employed newlineto determine its performance, combustion and emission characteristics, while it is fuelled by newlinedifferent D-NM-M and D-NM-DEE ternary fuel mixtures at varying concentrations (% vol.), newlineloads and compression ratios (CRs). newlineIn the first phase of experiments, D92.5-NM2.5-M5 (92.5 % diesel, 2.5 % nitromethane, 5 % newlinemethanol) and D90-NM2.5-DEE7.5 (90 % diesel, 2.5 % nitromethane, 7.5 % diethyl ether) newlinemixtures were observed as most suitable fuels at standard engine operating parameters. In newlineaddition, the tests were conducted using selected blends (D92.5-NM2.5-M5 and D90-NM2.5- newlineDEE7.5) with various CR levels. The lower and lifting arrangement of the piston cylinder was newlineused for the changing the CR, in which CR 19.5 was observed as most suitable value of newlinecompression ratio for both the fuel blends under current engine conditions. newline
