Abstract: The Indian capital goods sector remains relatively underdeveloped for a USD 2.9 newlinetrillion (exchange rate 22.05.20, INR/USD=75.6) economy. Value addition in this sector newlinerepresents only approximately 22% of the total output, and the capital goods sector as a newlinewhole accounts for just 0.6% of India s gross domestic product (GDP), compared with newline4.1% for China, 3.4% for Germany, and 2.8% for South Korea (Agarwal and Sengupta, newline2017). Thus, it offers a significant business opportunity for both Indian and foreign newlineequipment manufacturers. newline
