Abstract: | Khalsa College is a historic educational institution in the northern Indian city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab, India. Foundation stone of the Khalsa College, Amritsar was laid down by Sir James Broadwood Lyall, the Lieutenant Governor of Punjab in 1892. Prof. Harbans Singh was the founder Director of sports clubs. The Department conducted activities like Annual sports meet and Diwali toumament on annual basis. 104 International athletes have been produced by Khalsa College, Amritsar. A huge number of 5512 athletes participated in Inter-college competitions in the last 20 years viz. 1999 to 2019.309 male athletes won numerous medals in Inter-university competitions in the past 10 years vi2.2009 to 2019. Fufihermore, 455 female athletes participated in Inter-college competitions and a number of 96 female athletes brought medals in Inter-university competitions in last 5 academic years viz. 2014 to 2019. The Khalsa College, Amritsar has a tremendous infrastructure with a Gurudwara Sahib, Sikh history research center, Physiotherapy center and 13 different sports grounds like Athletics Track, Cricket ground, Hockey ground, Swimming pool etc. In the last, Khalsa College organizational set up has great potential towards the sports and academic culture. S. Raj Mohinder Singh Majithia is the current Chancellor of Khalsa College Charitable Society. Dr. Mehal Singh is the existing Principal of the College and Dr. Daljeet Singh is the head of the Physical Education Deparlment. Khalsa College administrators gives their full support towards the college set-up. Every year Khalsa College enrolled a large number of students due to its great history of sports, sagacious administrators and hardworking staff. newline |
