Abstract: Tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major human bacterial diseases posing health, social, and economic burden at the global level. In 2018, 10 million populations suffered from TB (WHO TB report 2019). WHO (World Health Organization) reported around 1.2 million TB deaths among HIV/AIDS (Human immunodeficiency virus/Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) negative individuals and additionally 251,000 deaths among HIV positive individuals (WHO TB report 2019). According to WHO, the highest number of new TB cases emerged from Southeast Asia and Western Pacific regions (62%) followed by the African region (25%) (WHO TB report 2019) (Fig.1). The multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) is emerging as a global public health concern. In this regard, 3.4% new cases of TB and 18% of previously treated cases were estimated to be MDR-TB or rifampicin-resistant TB (RR-TB), throughout the world. India (27%), China (14%), and the Russian Federation (9%) were the three countries with the largest share of the global burden (WHO TB report 2019). newline
