Abstract: For successful innovations, it is crucial that the products and services to be delivered are unique and of high-quality for the organizations long-time survival and success, and is built primarily on the innovative capacities of the employees in the organizations. Hence, there is a need to study the individual, demographic and contextual antecedents to deepen the understanding of innovative work behaviour (IN-WK-BEH) in employees. Organizations depend on employees who are engaged at work as they voluntarily involve in IN-WK-BEH. Drawing insights from the Human capital theory (HCT), regulatory focus (RF) theory, and leader-member exchange (LMEX) theory this research examines the role of work engagement (WK-ENG) as a mediator in the relationship of IN-WK-BEH with the two dimensions of regulatory focus of promotion and prevention foci ,and LMEX. In order to better understand IN-WK-BEH among Information Technology employees in India, research was performed to meet the following objectives: 1. Behaviours can be explained in terms of their regulatory focus, leader member exchange and work engagement and test the moderation effect of age and work experience on the relationship between work engagement and innovative work behaviour. 2. To test the mediating role of work engagement in the relationships between promotion focus and prevention focus on innovative work behaviour. newline3. To examine the effects of promotion and prevention foci, and leader-member exchange on innovative work behaviour through the mediation of work engagement. newline newline
