Abstract: | Abstract newlineHepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is one of the leading causes of cancer-related death newlineworldwide. The destructive nature of the disease makes it difficult for clinicians to manage newlinethe condition. Hence, there is an urgent need to find new alternatives for HCC, as the role of newlineconventional cytotoxic drugs has reached a plateau to control HCC associated mortality. newlineAntioxidant compounds of plant origin with potential anti-tumor effect have been newlinerecognized as alternate modes in cancer treatment and chemoprevention. Resveratrol (RSV) newlineis a model natural nonflavonoid drug known for its anti-cancer activity. However, its newlineclinical application is limited due to its poor bioavailability. newline newlineObjectives newlineThe current research work aims to formulate, optimize, and characterize RSV loaded newlinecationic liposomes (RCL) for specific delivery in HCC. Hence the objectives of the study newlineare: newline1. Formulation and optimization of RCL using 3 newline2. Characterization of prepared RCL drug delivery system. newline2. factorial design. newline3. In-vitro cytotoxicity studies, cytocompatibility and cellular uptake studies of RSV and RCL. newline4. In-vivo pharmacokinetic profiling and anticancer pharmacodynamic study of RSV and RCL in NDEA induced HCC bearing rats. newline |
