Abstract: There are around 2-4 million fungal species, existing as unicellular yeasts, newlinefilamentous fungi, mushrooms, lichens etc. However, only a fraction of newlinethese (~100,000) are taxonomically identified. Traditionally fungal species are newlinedivided in to four phyla, out of the four, two contains fungi of monophyletic newlineorigin (Ascomycota and Basidiomycota) and the other two phyla includes newlinebasal fungi such as Zygomycota, Chytridiomycota (HEITMAN* 2011). newlineAscomycota is the largest phylum of fungi which has ~64000 species and also newlineknown as sac- fungi which sexually reproduce spore filled structure which are newlinecalled asci. Most of the ascomycetes grow as fine structure hyphae, newlineinterconnected hyphae forms mycelia. The sub-phyla of Ascomycota contains newlineSaccharomycotina which has 18 class of saccharomycete (McManus and newlineColeman 2014), within this class Candida, the emerging pathogen which newlinecauses the third most common blood stream infection called as candidemia newline
