Abstract: In 2019, we live in times of higher life expectancy where a majority of the people can now expect to live beyond 60 years of age. This longevity presents a new opportunity for older people as well as their families and society. The extent to which people utilize opportunities of longer life depends upon their health. newlineIt is predicted that by 2050, one-fifth of the world s population will be aged 60 and older. The impact of an elderly population is very complex and multi-faceted. Globally, ageing is occurring quite rapidly and the aged population is increasing, particularly in India. newline
